Here’s the bottomline. Nobody should be walking around without a means to protect themselves or their loved ones from a potential threat. Every adverse encounter doesn’t call for the use of deadly force. There are great options for other-than-lethal personal defense tools for you. Pepper spray is one of them.
This course does not require live-fire shooting.
Curriculum Description:
Come learn with Andréa at Silhouettes about the differences of pepper spray and defense sprays, carrying and operating your canister of pepper spray, and the law governing this particular tool. This course is hands-on, interactive, and scenario based (threat | no threat).

INTRODUCTION TO HANDGUNS

This course covers the universal safety rules, the mechanisms of a firearm, and the shooting fundamentals. This course is an ideal option for the student who wants to start their firearm journey as well as the student who wants to become more familiar with their firearm.

This lesson will introduce you to a wealth of information on different types of self-defense firearms including handguns, home defense shotguns, and the AR-15 platform, where Andrea Williams provides easy to understand explanations of the common terms used so frequently. The goal of this lesson is to de-mystify what can sometimes feel like a topic reserved for experts.

GUN CLEANING 101
Like you, your gun requires TLC (tender, loving care) and attention. As gun owners, it’s important for us to perform routine maintenance on all of our guns. Cleaning your firearms regularly is a vital part of that maintenance.
Have a S.E.A.T at Silhouettes and learn how to properly field strip and clean your gun on your own.
Curriculum Description:
This course does not require a live-fire shooting exercise.
The classroom fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable.

North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Course
In-Class Time: 8 Hours
Range Time: 1 Hour
This course is specifically tailored and NCDOJ approved to meet the requirements for the NC Concealed Firearm Permit Certificate to allow you to apply for your North Carolina Concealed Firearm permit. To meet North Carolina requirements, the classroom time will be a minimum of 8 hours, including 2 hours of North Carolina law highlighting the use of deadly force. The student will be required to take and pass a written exam. The student will be required to pass a live-fire qualification: 3 yards (9 feet), 5 yards (15 feet), and 7 yards (21 feet).

This real-world self-defense scenario training is designed to improve your mindset and skills, regardless of experience level or background, in a safe and controlled environment. You can practice making split-second decisions, which will help you to understand the legal use of force. This is one of the most practical and effective ways to recognize when — or if — the use of deadly force is justified. Test your knowledge and learn from realistic situations that you could encounter in your daily life. Simulation training scenarios activate students’ mental and physical responses to mimic real self-defense scenarios, giving you a deeper understanding of how you’ll react under pressure.

Introduction To Defensive Shooting
In-Class Time: 1 Hour
Range Time: 3 Hours
This course is NOT designed for a new or inexperienced shooter. We introduce the concept of defensive shooting and provide a baseline for the shooter to measure their shooting skillset and improve. We focus on close quarter engagement and basic tactical maneuvers.
Live Fire - This class includes range time.
Curriculum Description:
This lesson will continue with the basics, including a very visual overview of what we call the “building blocks” or the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson, Michael Martin will explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack.
